- (The PFA regularly hold second hand uniform sales – look out for dates in our newsletter)
- PE kit should be in school every day for all children in Reception to Year 6
- Children do go out to play in light rain or drizzle. Outdoor PE & playtime is usually only cancelled because of heavy rain, thunderstorms, gale force winds, excessive heat or icy weather.
- Jewellery is not permitted in school, apart from an inexpensive watch or plain stud earrings. Please do not send your child to school with valuable items.
- Earrings are a plain stud only, no hoops.
- Skirts should be around knee length – at or below the knee. Trousers should be tailored and not tracksuit bottoms
- Socks & thick /woollen tights: ideally these should be black, grey or white
- If children wear a headscarf or turban for religious reasons, these should be black, white or burgundy.
- Hoodies / sweatshirts should not be brought into school as replacements for a coat: children need a lightweight waterproof in summer and a thick winter coat for autumn / winter
- Caps / sun hats / Beanies may be worn outside at playtimes / outdoor PE but not inside
- Polo shirts should always be tucked in trousers or skirts when the sweatshirt is worn. In warm weather or the summer term, polo shirts need not be tucked in when a sweatshirt is not required.
Hair:
- Long hair should be tied back every day with a simple, soft hairband.
- No hair adornments (feathers, bows, flowers, glittery or the like – anything that is a distraction to learning but they are OK for a Muftie Day) Hair bands or slides are to be small, dark red, white or black only.
Make-up or nail varnish: not permitted. If a child has nail varnish or make up on, they will be expected to remove it immediately. The office has made up removal pads for this purpose.
Mobile Phones – should not be brought to school. Any that are accidentally brought in must be handed in to the school office
Earrings: ideally no earrings should be worn in school as these pose a Health & Safety risk. Parents of children with pierced ears may allow their child to wear a single pair of small, plain silver or gold sleepers or studs at their own risk. Earrings should be plain – no pictures or diamantes or similar!
Earrings must be removed before PE & sport. Staff will not remove earrings for children. If your child cannot take their earrings out themselves, please remove them before school on each PE day. Any child having their ears newly pierced should do so at the start of the long summer holiday, to allow time for the wound to heal so that children are able to remove them. Earrings will not be covered with tape or a plaster for PE lessons.
